FactOnly 600 Vios Turbos were ever built, and Toyota gave this budget sedan the transmission and differential gearing straight out of the MR-S sports car.
The Vios Turbo was a variant of the first-generation Vios made available only in Thailand in 2005, of which only about 600 cars were produced. Its turbocharged 1.5-litre 1NZ-FE with an air-to-air intercooler makes 143 PS (141 hp) at 6,400 rpm and 196 N·m (145 lb·ft) at 4,800 rpm with light boost, through a 5-speed C56 manual whose transmission and differential ratios were based on those of the MR-S, and could reach 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. It came standard with a functional bonnet scoop, wrap-around body kits, stiffer springs, firmer shock absorbers and 16-inch alloy wheels, in red, black or silver.
