The first-generation C-HR was presented at the March 2016 Geneva Motor Show and built from November 2016 to September 2023 on the TNGA-C platform shared with the E210 Corolla, in Japan and Turkey and later Thailand and China. Engines included a 1.2-litre turbo, 1.8-litre petrol and hybrid, a 2.0-litre petrol for North America and, after the October 2019 facelift, a 2.0-litre hybrid in Europe. China also had an electric version, sold with the IZOA twin. In North America it was sold for the 2018 to 2022 model years.
