The first full-production civilian Jeep, the Willys-Overland "Universal Jeep" (214,760 built), developed from the CJ-2 and looking like a civilianised MB with a tailgate and side-mounted spare. It kept the reliable L-134 "Go-Devil" engine but swapped the MB's T-84 for a beefier T-90 three-speed. Production began on 17 July 1945, alongside roughly 9,000 more MBs through September 1945, and early cars used leftover military parts such as engine blocks; a stronger Dana/Spicer 41 rear axle replaced the MB-style full-floating axle after serial no. 13453. Its seven-slot grille and bulging flush headlights distinguish it from the MB's nine-slot grille and recessed lamps. "AGRIJEEP" was trademarked but not used.
