The Chinese-built Ford Territory (CX743) was introduced at the 2018 Chengdu Auto Show and went on sale in early 2019, built by JMC-Ford in Nanchang and based on the JMC Yusheng S330. Ford China placed it as an entry-level compact SUV between the EcoSport and Escape; Ford Australia helped with its ride, handling and refinement although it was not sold there. It had a 1.5 litre turbocharged four with a six-speed manual or CVT, and an electric version with a 49.14 kWh battery. It is unrelated to the Australian Territory of 2004–2016.

In China this car is the Equator Sport; exported, it becomes the Territory, and South Africa became its first right-hand-drive market.

Did you know the SZ Territory drove Ford Australia past a big milestone? In 2012 a white TX TDCi RWD model became the 150,000th Territory built.

FPV's first non-Falcon model was an SUV: the F6X Territory, killed off within a year.

Ford's turbo Territory came one way only: all-wheel drive. The 245 kW turbo six was never offered with the base model's rear-drive layout.

The SY update made the Territory the first Australian-built car ever fitted with a reversing camera.

The Territory's interior designer took his inspiration from a knife — and the result included flexing cup holders and a dedicated handbag holder.
