FactFord's turbo Territory came one way only: all-wheel drive. The 245 kW turbo six was never offered with the base model's rear-drive layout.
The Territory Turbo, introduced in mid-2006, was AWD-only and used a turbocharged version of the 4.0-litre Barra (the Barra 245T) producing 245 kW (329 hp) and 480 N·m (354 lb·ft), available only with the then-new six-speed ZF automatic and in standard trim or luxury Ghia (after the SY II, only in the Ghia). Its turbo took priority over the introduction of a mooted diesel variant because of costs and the Australian market's preference for performance variants, even though the six-cylinder's fuel consumption was already high.
