FactIn Mexico, the hot Mondeo ST220 was a genuine rarity: Ford sold it there as a strict limited edition of just 100 cars.
The Mondeo ST220 was the main sports version of the Mk III, replacing the ST200, sold as a liftback, estate and saloon with the newly developed 3.0-litre Duratec 30 V6, capable of 0 to 62 mph in 7.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 155 mph (249 km/h). The page gives its output as 226 PS (223 hp) in one place and 226 bhp (169 kW) in another, so no power figure is entered here; its torque is listed as 210 lb·ft (280 N·m). In Mexico 100 ST220s were sold as a limited edition. A quieter, smoother variant of the same 3.0-litre V6 (204 PS) powered the Zetec S, Ghia X and Titanium X.

Ford billed the Mondeo as a true "world car" shared with the American Contour — but the only parts the two actually had in common were the windscreen, front windows, mirrors and door handles.
