FactThis Superb drops the manual gearbox entirely and shares its body panels with the Volkswagen Passat B9 underneath a different face.
Officially unveiled on 2 November 2023, built in Bratislava from December 2023 as a liftback and an estate (Combi) on a stretched version of the MQB Evo platform, sharing its body panels and greenhouse with the Volkswagen Passat B9. Unlike its predecessor no manual gearbox is offered. It wears the brand's "Modern Solid" design language, with a claimed 10% (liftback) and 15% (Combi) drag reduction, a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit, a 10-inch touchscreen upgradeable to 13 inches, and a steering-column gear selector. Boot space is 645 litres (liftback) and 690 litres (Combi), up to 1,920 litres with the Combi's rear seats folded. Engines are a 1.5 TSI mild hybrid, a 2.0 TSI 4x4 and 2.0 TDI (front- or all-wheel drive), plus the Superb iV plug-in hybrid.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

With the 2.0 TSI 4x4, the third Superb briefly became the fastest production Škoda ever built, hitting 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.

The second Superb's boot lid is a hidden hatchback: pull one handle and the rear glass lifts too, Škoda's TwinDoor trick nobody else copied.

Volkswagen vetoed a Superb estate outright, worried it would steal sales from its own Passat Variant and the Audi A4 Avant.

It briefly served as senior sibling to Marquette, a GM companion brand cancelled after just one year.

Nissan hired former BMW engineers to help develop the 510's suspension, which is why period reviewers frequently compared its handling to the BMW 1600/2002.

A Trabant 601 won its class at the 1970 Monte Carlo Rally, with a second 601 right behind it in second.

The 600 was a stopgap: the P50's body over the 601's mechanicals, and for a while its estate was built alongside the new 601 saloon.

The G80 Sport brought a 370 PS twin-turbo 3.3 V6, a mesh grille and copper-tinted chrome with copper stitching to match.

The Vigor was sold only with a five-cylinder engine, an unusual configuration Honda used to fit a longer engine transversely under a short hood.

The GS/E coupe earned the nickname "German Charger" for its long hood, short deck stance borrowed from Detroit muscle cars.

This DeVille/Fleetwood was the first production car anywhere to mount its V8 sideways, Cadillac's front-drive gamble on the new C-body.
