FactThe 2017 Car of the Year win landed the same day PSA announced its $2.3 billion deal to buy GM's Opel division.
The second-generation 3008 was announced in May 2016 and shown at the Paris Motor Show that September, moving the model from MPV to compact SUV on the PSA EMP2 platform it shares with the 308 II, 5008 II and Citroën C5 Aircross. It introduced a new iCockpit with a 12.3-inch head-up display, and 100,000 were ordered in Europe between October 2016 and March 2017. It won European Car of the Year 2017, was facelifted in September 2020 and gained a mild hybrid in February 2023; China builds it as the Peugeot 4008.
