FactThis generation spawned the Micra C+C folding-hardtop convertible, which Top Gear magazine later named one of the 13 worst cars of the previous 20 years - "as much fun as sticking chilli-infused toothpicks in your eyes."
Introduced in Japan in February 2002 (the production Micra was unveiled at the 2002 Paris Motor Show), following the mm.e concept, with a 70 mm longer wheelbase developed with Renault, and built at Oppama, Sunderland and, for the C+C, Karmann in Osnabrück. It was on the Nissan B platform, related to the Tiida/Versa, Note and Cube, and had a sliding rear seat and optional keyless ignition. Engines were 1.0 to 1.6 L petrols and a Renault-sourced 1.5 L K9K diesel; the K11's CVT gave way to a conventional automatic. Autech's Bolero and Rafeet variants, the March Enchante with a swivelling passenger seat and the 2005 Micra C+C coupé-convertible with a Karmann glass roof followed, plus the one-off mid-engined Micra-R, later the 350SR with a VQ35DE. A late-2007 facelift standardised the 160 SR's grille. Around 122,000 were sold worldwide by 2009.

A hand-built March Nismo spin-off, the Bolero A30, was sold only through a Chamber of Commerce lottery — and every one of the limited run got its own numbered dash plaque.

The K13 March/Micra broke a decades-long streak for Nissan's city car: it was the first generation to come standard with a three-cylinder engine instead of a four.

This March's body design wasn't meant for Nissan at all — it was penned as Fiat's planned replacement for the 127, but Fiat picked Giugiaro's Uno instead, leaving Nissan the rejected shape.
