FactThis Forward shares its cab with Isuzu's smaller Elf truck — the two are nearly twins, down to everything but the side fenders.
The sixth generation Forward was launched in March 2023 and went on sale in August 2023, with powertrain updates to meet upcoming fuel efficiency regulations, sharing the Elf's cab (with different side fenders) and adopting Isuzu's first common architecture strategy, I-MACS (Isuzu Modular Architecture and Component Standard), which standardises the engine, transmission, fuel tank, axles and safety features. It has a new 7-inch display like the Elf, a smaller steering wheel and fully reclining seats, and four safety packages: BASIC, STANDARD (adaptive headlights, speed sign recognition, driver monitoring), ADVANCE (adaptive cruise control, emergency stop system, electronic parking brake) and PREMIUM (lane-keep assist, enhanced EDSS, blind spot monitoring). The 4HK1 now uses DPD with urea SCR, and the heavier inline-six options are the all-new Cummins co-developed D6BA-TCN and D6BA-TCC producing 260 and 300 PS with a 9-speed manual or the Smoother-Fx automated manual. The lighter-duty Forward Juston (1986–, Elf cab, under 8 tons GVW) is not filed separately.

Owning one
An estimate, for the Forward D6BA-TCC inline-six (300 PS) trim: fuel on its EPA figure and a dated national price, upkeep on a per-mile average for the kind of car it is.

Isuzu showed a 6x6 version of this Forward generation at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2013.

For Chile and Peru, this Forward arrived as CKD kits and was hand-assembled in Huechuraba — just two trucks a day, built by a team of 13 workers.

An ordinary Japanese delivery truck got an unlikely cameo: a 1992-94 Isuzu Forward shows up on screen in Studio Ghibli's Pom Poko.

This Forward’s 6BB1 diesel packed the smallest displacement per cylinder of any direct-injection diesel engine in the world at the time, then went on to power Isuzu trucks for decades.

The diesel Isuzu bolted into the Forward truck in 1972 packed the smallest displacement per cylinder of any direct-injection diesel in the world at the time — and it went on powering Isuzu trucks for decades.

Isuzu widened the Forward's appeal mid-run: in August 1967 it added two lighter 3.5-tonne models, the TY31 and TY41, alongside the original heavier trucks.

When Mazda's E2000 — the truck that became the Titan — launched in January 1964, the factory was tasked with building 1,900 of them a month.

Swaraj Mazda built this truck under license in India from 1985, and the plant survived name changes all the way to SML Isuzu.

Indonesia built this pickup for 28 years with no successor, the last one leaving the Jakarta line in January 2019 after 324,960 units.

Suzuki's first-ever diesel engine, fitted to the Super Carry, is so small that it isn't able to power an air-conditioning system at all.

A right-hand-drive DJ-3A was built so postal drivers could reach roadside mailboxes without leaving the seat.

The Power Wagon name and civilian pickup design were derived directly from the WC-series military trucks Dodge built for World War II.

Suzuki kept the L20 Carry at the exact same 21 hp as its predecessor but still called it progress — the gain was a patented Cylinder Crank Injection lubrication system, not more power.

This generation of Titan quietly became the ancestor of two other trucks entirely: it was license-built by Kia as the Kia Titan in South Korea, and formed the basis of the Australian Ford Trader.
