The second-generation Kona (SX2) was revealed in December 2022 and is built in Ulsan, with electric versions also made in the Czech Republic and Indonesia. Hyundai says it was first designed as a battery electric vehicle and then adapted for petrol, mild-hybrid and hybrid versions; diesel engines were dropped. It is around 150 mm longer than the first generation on a 60 mm longer wheelbase, and shares its K3 platform with the Kia Niro (SG2).

Owning one
An estimate, for the 1.0 T-GDi mild hybrid trim: fuel on its EPA figure and a dated national price, upkeep on a per-mile average for the kind of car it is.
