The third-generation Everest (U704/UB) was revealed on 1 March 2022, developed by Ford Australia and sharing most of its front end with the P703 Ranger and the second-generation Volkswagen Amarok, on the T6 platform with an additional 50 mm of wheel track and wheelbase (2,900 mm (114.2 in)) to give a longer dash-to-axle ratio for the optional V6 and a wider track; length 4,914 mm (193.5 in), width 1,923 mm (75.7 in), height 1,842 mm (72.5 in). It has longer control arms for the independent front suspension and Watts' link rear suspension, underbody protection, a rear locking differential, selectable off-road drive modes, two front tow hooks and 800 mm of wading depth; the four-wheel-drive 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 has a 3,500 kg towing capacity, and instead of a centre differential the Everest uses an electromechanical clutch pack that lets it run in rear-wheel drive on high-traction surfaces. Engines: 2.3 L EcoBoost turbo petrol, 2.7 L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 petrol, 2.0 L EcoBlue turbo and twin-turbo diesel, 3.0 L Power Stroke turbo V6 diesel, with 6R80 or 10R80 automatics. It went on sale in Thailand on 21 March 2022, Australia on 12 May 2022 (Ambiente, Trend, Sport and Platinum; Wildtrak from May 2023 and a 700-unit Sport Bi-Turbo in September 2025), the Philippines in July 2022, Vietnam in July 2022, New Zealand and South Africa in September 2022, Malaysia in September 2022 and Indonesia in June 2023, and won Wheels Car of the Year in 2022 in Australia. The page gives no power figures for these engines.

Owning one
An estimate, for the 2.0 EcoBlue turbodiesel I4 trim: fuel on its EPA figure and a dated national price, upkeep on a per-mile average for the kind of car it is.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.
