FactDaihatsu built a pickup version of this Mira in Thailand that alone lifted the company's Thai sales by 50 percent.
The second-generation (L70) Mira/Cuore of August 1985, on a longer wheelbase with three-cylinder engines replacing the two-cylinder AB: the 547 cc EB (carburetted, naturally aspirated at 38 PS or turbocharged and intercooled at 52 PS, the latter first only as the Mira three-door commercial) and an 847 cc ED-10 for the L80 export versions (a narrower-bore 796 cc ED-10A suited Swiss tax bands from September 1986). Commercial Miras and passenger Cuores were sold side by side (a 4WD van, L71V, was available); a five-door van arrived in January 1986 and a walk-through van two months later, with a facelift in August 1987 and an all-wheel-drive turbo two months later. Mira Parco special editions came in February 1988 (black with pop-colour interior), that summer (blue) and February 1989 (turbo 4WD); a 50 PS turbo Cuore TR/CR was added in October 1988, and 500 Mira Sedan TR-XX Limiteds. The Cuore name ended in Japan in April 1989. Production continued in Thailand (the Mira P1 pickup, 1990–95, lifted Daihatsu's Thai sales 50%) until 1998; Japan's ended in March 1990.

We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Daihatsu killed the Mira in 2018 not for slow sales but because it could no longer meet Japan's incoming crash standards.

A wheelchair-accessible Mira, driven straight out of a self-powered wheelchair through an automated door, stayed on sale until 2009.

The Mira TR's turbo engine was tuned to exactly 64 PS, the informal ceiling every Japanese kei-car maker agreed never to exceed.

A limited Mira Moderno came badged with Sanrio's Hello Kitty in January 1998, aimed squarely at buyers who wanted a kei car with a cartoon cat on it.

This Mira could be had with mechanical four-wheel steering, a feature no other kei car of its time offered.

The Mira launched as a straight replacement for the Max Cuore, yet enthusiasts still count it as the second-generation Cuore.
