FactDaihatsu killed the Mira in 2018 not for slow sales but because it could no longer meet Japan's incoming crash standards.
The L275, the seventh-generation Mira, was presented in December 2006 (initially a five-door passenger version only, the three-door van following in December 2007), with four-wheel-drive versions using the L285 code. Two Topaz Neo KF engines are offered: the 658 cc KF-VE twin-cam DVVT three-cylinder of 43 kW (58 PS) and the KF-DET turbo of 47 kW (64 PS); the naturally aspirated one comes with a five-speed manual, three- or four-speed automatic or CVT. Export models (L276) appeared in September 2007 with the very light Toyota 1.0-litre KR inline-three, sold as the Charade in South Africa (until 2011) and the Cuore in Europe (until 2013). On the Japanese 10–15 cycle fuel economy ran from 21 km/L (three-speed automatic) to 25.5 km/L (CVT), and 27 km/L with the "Smart Drive package" idle start-stop system; the gear shift moved to the centre dash and an optional rear seat slid through 255 mm. The Mira, with the Mira Cocoa, was discontinued in Japan on 30 March 2018 because it could not pass upcoming safety standards, ending Daihatsu's 38 years in the bonneted light-van market.

The Mira TR's turbo engine was tuned to exactly 64 PS, the informal ceiling every Japanese kei-car maker agreed never to exceed.

Daihatsu built a pickup version of this Mira in Thailand that alone lifted the company's Thai sales by 50 percent.

The Mira launched as a straight replacement for the Max Cuore, yet enthusiasts still count it as the second-generation Cuore.
