FactAudi builds the third-gen Q5 in Mexico, sells it alongside the old one in America for a full model year.
The third-generation Q5 (GU) was unveiled on 2 September 2024 and is built at San José Chiapa in Mexico from November 2024, with a long-wheelbase Q5L made in China; the Sportback coupé-SUV followed on 26 November 2024. It is the first major redesign since 2018 and uses the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) shared with the A5. All versions have a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox; the base 2.0-litre turbo four makes 268 hp. In North America it was sold alongside the previous generation for the 2025 model year.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.
