The second-generation Q3 (F3) was unveiled on 25 July 2018 on the MQB A2 platform shared with the second-generation Volkswagen Tiguan, and built at Győr in Hungary, in Tianjin and in Curitiba, Brazil until June 2025. A lower, longer Q3 Sportback aimed at the BMW X2 was revealed in July 2019, and a 1.4-litre plug-in hybrid joined in Europe for the 2021 model year. Engines included 1.4-, 1.5- and 2.0-litre TFSI petrol fours and a 2.0-litre TDI; the RS Q3 is a separate model.

Audi's first Q3 was built mostly in Spain, on a SEAT production line, alongside parts shared with the VW Tiguan.
