Audi moved the Q3's gear selector onto the steering column, following the design language of the larger Q5.
Even with LED headlights as standard, the second Q3's front indicators and tail lights used ordinary bulbs unless you paid extra.
As of 2026, this is about as small as a gas-engined Audi gets: with the A1 and Q2 both discontinued, the Q3 is now tied with the A3 as Audi's smallest remaining combustion-engine model.
The RS Q3 came out of a Seat factory: every first-generation Q3 was built at Martorell, Spain, on the Golf-based PQ35 platform.
