The sixth-generation A6 (C9, model code 4L) is built at Neckarsulm from April 2025, with a long-wheelbase A6L in China. Audi had planned to rename it A7 and keep the A6 name for electric cars, but cancelled that in February 2025, so the combustion car stays the A6. The Avant was unveiled on 4 March 2025 and the sedan on 15 April 2025. It uses the PPC platform from the A5 (B10), with MHEV Plus mild-hybrid petrol and diesel engines and a 2.0-litre e-hybrid plug-in; Audi claims the Avant's 0.25 drag coefficient is its best for a combustion Avant.

The C8 broke new ground for Audi's oldest nameplate: it's the first A6 generation ever assembled and sold in India, arriving there only in 2019.

The C7 A6 isn't just related to the A7 — it shares its interior, platform and powertrain with it. The 'sportback' sibling actually launched first, in 2011.

The C6 A6 won World Car of the Year in 2005 — and kept picking up hardware afterward for an unglamorous but real skill: towing, taking home 'Towcar of the Year' honors for its air suspension and trailer stability system.

Air suspension plus quattro let the C5 allroad pass an official Land Rover off-road test course — no other car-based SUV has matched that.

The C4 platform's swan song was the S6 Plus, built by Audi's own quattro GmbH for one model year only — just 952 were made, and the Avant wagon outsold the saloon nearly nine to one.

It briefly served as senior sibling to Marquette, a GM companion brand cancelled after just one year.

Nissan hired former BMW engineers to help develop the 510's suspension, which is why period reviewers frequently compared its handling to the BMW 1600/2002.

A Trabant 601 won its class at the 1970 Monte Carlo Rally, with a second 601 right behind it in second.

The 600 was a stopgap: the P50's body over the 601's mechanicals, and for a while its estate was built alongside the new 601 saloon.

The G80 Sport brought a 370 PS twin-turbo 3.3 V6, a mesh grille and copper-tinted chrome with copper stitching to match.

The Vigor was sold only with a five-cylinder engine, an unusual configuration Honda used to fit a longer engine transversely under a short hood.

The GS/E coupe earned the nickname "German Charger" for its long hood, short deck stance borrowed from Detroit muscle cars.

This DeVille/Fleetwood was the first production car anywhere to mount its V8 sideways, Cadillac's front-drive gamble on the new C-body.
