FactThis Touran generation had a firm end date: Wolfsburg stopped production in April 2026, exactly 11 years after it started.
Introduced at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform (shared with the Golf Mk7 and Golf Sportsvan), styled by Walter de Silva with a drag coefficient reduced to 0.296, more cabin space, four new engines with 19% lower fuel consumption and driver-assistance and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto options. Built at Wolfsburg until the end of April 2026, after 11 years, and at Changsha in China from 2016, where it succeeded the Santana in Shanghai taxi fleets from October 2018. The petrol range began with 1.2 and 1.4 TSI (later a 1.0 TSI OPF, 1.5 TSI OPF and 1.8 TSI) and the diesels were 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI (SCR) of 110-190 PS, with 5- and 6-speed manuals and 6- and 7-speed DSG. Euro NCAP rated the 1.5 TSI Comfortline 77% for adult occupants in 2022.

We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

The Touran quietly introduced a first for Volkswagen: electro-mechanical power steering, a segment first that varied steering weight with road speed and saved fuel by drawing no power at idle.
