The Ford B-Max is a mini MPV manufactured by Ford Europe from June 2012 to September 2017 at Craiova, Romania, built on the Ford global B platform and unveiled as a concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, launched at the 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and in the UK on 1 September 2012 (the first was bought by Romania's President Traian Băsescu directly from the plant on 25 June 2012). Based on the Fiesta with rivals the Fiat 500L, Citroën C3 Picasso and Nissan Note, its Kinetic Design styling has rear sliding doors with no B-pillars, and it offered the new 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost (turbocharged direct injection with start-stop, named International Engine of the Year 2012), the 1.4 and 1.6 Duratec petrols (the 1.6 also with the six-speed PowerShift dual-clutch) and 1.5 and 1.6 Duratorq TDCi diesels in Studio (1.4 only), Zetec and Titanium trims, with Intelligent Protection, Torque Vectoring Control, SYNC and Fold Flat systems. Euro NCAP gave it five stars in September 2012 (adult 92%, child 84%, pedestrian 67%, safety assist 71%). Unusually for a Ford it received no mid-cycle facelift; production ended in September 2017 on dwindling demand, the EcoSport and Fiesta Active the intended transition to SUVs, with the Puma crossover its successor. European sales: 15,871 (2012), 68,557 (2013), 53,889 (2014), 46,147 (2015), 40,474 (2016) and 43,339 (2017). Wheelbase 2,489 mm (98.0 in), length 4,077 mm (160.5 in), width 1,751 mm (68.9 in), height 1,604 mm (63.1 in).
