FactRenault pulled the Koleos out of the UK after barely two years — fewer than 2,600 had sold before the brand gave up on the market.
The Koleos was Renault's addition to the compact SUV market, after the Scénic RX4 and the Kangoo. It was unveiled as a concept at the 2006 Paris Motor Show, and the production model, designed under Patrick Le Quément, was launched at the end of 2007 in South Korea, and in 2008 in other markets. It was built on the Renault–Nissan C platform, related to the Nissan Rogue, Qashqai and X-Trail, and manufactured by Renault Samsung Motors at Busan, where it was sold as the Renault Samsung QM5. A facelifted Koleos was unveiled in July 2011, and in India Renault introduced it in September 2011 with the 2.0 dCi diesel. The Koleos was withdrawn from the United Kingdom in August 2010 due to poor sales of under 2,600 units.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.
