The second-generation 5008 was unveiled to the press on 7 September 2016 and shown at the Paris Motor Show; unlike the MPV it replaced, it is an SUV, essentially a seven-seat version of the 3008. Its wheelbase is 165 mm longer than the 3008's, with three rows of seats, and it is built in Rennes, France, and in Chengdu, China. A facelift was revealed in September 2020, and a mild hybrid arrived in February 2023.
