FactNissan reused the Ariya's running gear in a one-off single-seater concept built to mimic Formula E race cars.
The Ariya is a battery electric compact crossover built since January 2022 at Nissan's Tochigi plant (and by Dongfeng Nissan in Wuhan), the brand's first zero-emissions SUV. Previewed by the Ariya Concept at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, the production version was unveiled in July 2020, but chip shortages pushed its launch from 2021 to 2022; US and Canadian deliveries began in late 2022 for the 2023 model year. It sits on the AmpR Medium platform and is offered with front-wheel drive or dual-motor e-4orce all-wheel drive, with standard-range and extended-range batteries of 63 and 87 kWh usable. The high-performance Ariya Nismo is filed as its own generation.
