FactLi Auto absorbed a 14,000-yuan rise in build cost on the 2026 L6 rather than raise its price.
The second-generation Li L6 is a range-extended mid-size SUV built in Changzhou from July 2026, first seen in an MIIT filing on 9 May 2026 and launched on 16 July 2026 in a single Ultra trim. It keeps its predecessor's wheelbase but is 10 mm longer, with a larger grille, smoked tail-lights and semi-flush door handles. A 1.5-litre turbocharged range extender works with dual motors and four-wheel drive for 300 kW, and the battery grows to 51 kWh. Inside, a 29-inch 6K display spans the centre console and passenger side.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.
