The second-generation Niro (SG2) was released at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show on 25 November and officially launched on 25 January 2022, with the second-generation Niro EV following in April 2022. It is built at Hwaseong on the K3 platform shared with the Hyundai Kona (SX2). It is offered as a 1.6-litre hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and a battery electric version with a 64.8 kWh battery. Its interior uses recycled fibres in the headliner and a bio-artificial leather made from eucalyptus leaves.
