The first K9 (KH), sold as the K900 in the United States and Canada and the Quoris elsewhere, was a rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan built in Gwangmyeong and Kaliningrad from 2012 to 2018. It derived from the Hyundai Equus and Genesis on the BH-L platform and was the first rear-drive sedan Kia sold in the US. It used 3.3 and 3.8-litre V6s and a 5.0-litre Tau V8 with an eight-speed automatic.
