Announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017 with production models reaching Romania in November 2017, on the same B0 platform (now called B0+) and with nearly identical dimensions to the first generation, though Renault design chief Laurens van den Acker said every body panel is new. Interior noise was cut to half of the previous car's, and boot volume is 445 litres in 2WD form and 376 litres in 4x4 form. A facelift unveiled on 22 June 2021 and on sale from September 2021 added electric power steering, a four-camera MultiView system, blind-spot warning and hill descent control, and trimmed the range to two petrol engines (130 and 150 hp), a 100 hp petrol/LPG and a 115 hp diesel in all-wheel drive. The Eco-G LPG version arrived in January 2020 at the Brussels show, a single-cab Duster Pick-Up (converted by Romturingia) in October 2020, and a June 2022 refresh brought Dacia's new logo. The Duster remains built in Brazil, Colombia and Nigeria.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

A fifth of the plastic in the third-gen Duster is recycled material called Starkle - left deliberately unpainted, so the car wears its sustainability on its sleeve.

Dacia's budget SUV traces some of its design DNA back to the Renault 4 — a humble 1960s economy car lending cues to the Duster decades later.
