FactWhen the China-only Élysée relaunched as the C-Élysée in 2008, Dongfeng's engineers didn't just restyle it — they made 300 separate changes under the skin.
The C-Élysée was presented at the Beijing Motor Show on 8 April 2008 with a new name and another restyle (300 changes by Dongfeng technicians, a grille in line with the second-generation C5 and updated ABS, suspension and a USB audio system), a step below the C4-based C-Triomphe and with the 109 HP 1.6 16v engine with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. From 2009 a two-volume hatchback replaced the old Fukang, and a final restyle in 2012 changed only the front bumpers and rear lights, with the 5-door and VIP models replaced by locally assembled C4 versions; production of the first C-Élysée ended in early 2013 when the new global second generation began. Wheelbase 2,540 mm (100.0 in), length 4,367 mm (171.9 in), width 1,708 mm (67.2 in), height 1,413 mm (55.6 in).

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

This humble China-market Citroën had its own stretch-limo edition: the Élysée VIP added 16 centimeters to the wheelbase and dressed the cabin in faux briar wood and leather.

It briefly served as senior sibling to Marquette, a GM companion brand cancelled after just one year.

Nissan hired former BMW engineers to help develop the 510's suspension, which is why period reviewers frequently compared its handling to the BMW 1600/2002.

A Trabant 601 won its class at the 1970 Monte Carlo Rally, with a second 601 right behind it in second.

The 600 was a stopgap: the P50's body over the 601's mechanicals, and for a while its estate was built alongside the new 601 saloon.

The G80 Sport brought a 370 PS twin-turbo 3.3 V6, a mesh grille and copper-tinted chrome with copper stitching to match.

The Vigor was sold only with a five-cylinder engine, an unusual configuration Honda used to fit a longer engine transversely under a short hood.

The GS/E coupe earned the nickname "German Charger" for its long hood, short deck stance borrowed from Detroit muscle cars.

This DeVille/Fleetwood was the first production car anywhere to mount its V8 sideways, Cadillac's front-drive gamble on the new C-body.
