The first-generation Trax (model code U200, TJ in Australia) was unveiled as a concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and as a production model at the 2013 North American International Auto Show. It is based on the GM Gamma II platform shared with the Aveo/Sonic and the Opel Mokka/Buick Encore, and was sold as the Holden Trax in Australia and the Chevrolet Tracker in Russia and South America. It was built by GM Korea and GM Mexico, by SAIC-GM for China and by GM Uzbekistan, and reached the U.S. for 2015. The U.S. version used a 1.4 litre turbocharged four of 138 bhp with a six-speed automatic, with front- or all-wheel drive.

An estimate, for the 1.4 Turbo (A14NET) trim: fuel on its EPA figure and a dated national price, upkeep on a per-mile average for the kind of car it is.
