LA Sheriffs tested the 1976 Nova, then placed the largest compact police car order in U.S. history.

The 1968 redesign stretched the "compact" Nova onto a 111-inch wheelbase — just one inch shorter than the mid-size Chevelle coupe it was supposed to sit well below.

Nova was nearly the car's name from day one in 1962 — it lost out only because Chevrolet wanted every model name to start with "C," then spent seven years as just the top trim before taking over in 1969.

The Vigor was sold only with a five-cylinder engine, an unusual configuration Honda used to fit a longer engine transversely under a short hood.

This DeVille/Fleetwood was the first production car anywhere to mount its V8 sideways, Cadillac's front-drive gamble on the new C-body.
