The first-generation AITO M7, sold in China 2022-2025 (export from 2023, also as the Seres 7/Seres M7), was initially available only as a range-extender EV using a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder generator and Huawei DriveOne AC synchronous motors: 200 kW (272 PS) with a single rear motor or 330 kW (449 PS) with dual-motor all-wheel drive, on a 40 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery for 165-195 km electric-only range. Zero Gravity rear seats unfold to a 113-degree thigh-torso angle for better circulation, and a 19-speaker 7.1-surround Huawei sound system is standard; in September 2023 Seres rebadged it for export as the Seres 7. Front-engine, rear-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD; wheelbase 2,820 mm (111.0 in), length 5,020 mm (197.6 in), width 1,945 mm (76.6 in), height 1,775 mm (69.9 in), curb weight 2,340 kg (5,159 lb).

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Its base LiDAR hides behind the windshield, not on the roof, yet still spots a 30 cm object at night and brakes automatically up to 100 km/h.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Subaru built a 2.5XT for the National Ski Patrol with a diamond-plate floor, a 9,500-pound winch and a toboggan on the roof.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
