FactCanadian-market 6/99s got the same overdrive floor shift as the Austin-Healey 3000, an unusual crossover from sports car to saloon.
The Wolseley 6/99 was the first generation of the large Pininfarina-styled Farina cars to reach Wolseley, following the Austin A99 Westminster in 1959 to replace the 6/90 (13,108 made, 1959–1961), and was also sold as the Vanden Plas Princess 3-Litre and, in Denmark, as the Wolseley 300. It used the same 2.9 L (2912 cc) C-Series straight-six as the Austin-Healey 3000 with twin SU carburettors, rated 102 bhp, with coil springs and wishbones at the front and a live axle on semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear, an anti-roll bar, Lockheed 10.75 in front discs and 10 in rear drums with vacuum servo. The interior was polished wood with leather seats and a fold-down central rear armrest; left-hand-drive cars shipped to Canada used the 4-speed floor shift with overdrive identical to that in the Austin-Healey 100/6 and 3000. The Motor tested a 6/99 with overdrive in 1959 at 97.6 mph and 0–60 mph in 14.4 seconds, and on the home market it cost £1254 including taxes with overdrive. It was replaced in 1961 by the 6/110.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

It briefly served as senior sibling to Marquette, a GM companion brand cancelled after just one year.

Nissan hired former BMW engineers to help develop the 510's suspension, which is why period reviewers frequently compared its handling to the BMW 1600/2002.

A Trabant 601 won its class at the 1970 Monte Carlo Rally, with a second 601 right behind it in second.

The 600 was a stopgap: the P50's body over the 601's mechanicals, and for a while its estate was built alongside the new 601 saloon.

The G80 Sport brought a 370 PS twin-turbo 3.3 V6, a mesh grille and copper-tinted chrome with copper stitching to match.

The Vigor was sold only with a five-cylinder engine, an unusual configuration Honda used to fit a longer engine transversely under a short hood.

The GS/E coupe earned the nickname "German Charger" for its long hood, short deck stance borrowed from Detroit muscle cars.

This DeVille/Fleetwood was the first production car anywhere to mount its V8 sideways, Cadillac's front-drive gamble on the new C-body.
