FactVW calls the ID.7 the slipperiest ID model yet — its drag numbers beat every electric Volkswagen that came before it.
The Volkswagen ID.7 is a battery electric car produced by Volkswagen since 2023, with a five-door liftback design marketed in the E-segment; an estate model marketed as the Tourer or Shooting Brake was officially unveiled on 20 February 2024. It rides on the MEB platform, shared with the ID.4 and the Audi Q4 e-tron, and was previewed by the ID. Aero concept car in June 2022, with the world premiere on 17 April 2023 simultaneously in Berlin and at the Shanghai Auto Show. It replaces both the Passat and the Arteon large family saloons as the flagship vehicle for the brand, and because it is larger and uses a standard rear-wheel drive layout, unlike the front-wheel drive Arteon and Passat, it is positioned upmarket. Volkswagen calls it the most aerodynamic ID series model so far with a CdA of 0.23 × 2.46 m². It is produced in Emden, Germany for Europe, while the Chinese models are built in Foshan and Anting. Power is 210 kW for the rear-wheel drive versions and 250 kW for the dual-motor GTX.
