Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' first pickup, presented on 7 January 2010 in General Pacheco, Argentina after a 2005 start and the "Robust Pick-Up" concept teased in September 2008 (the design was said to be 95 percent like the production version). It is a body-on-frame truck with double-wishbone front suspension and leaf springs at the rear, as a single cab or double cab, rear-wheel drive or 4motion four-wheel drive (either shiftable, or permanent through a Torsen differential splitting torque 40:60 front to rear), with 45 support vehicles used in the 2010 Dakar Rally. Production is at General Pacheco, with 40,000 a year at Hannover, Germany added from mid-2012 (to 2020) and assembly in Algeria and Ecuador; the 100,000th was built on 8 October 2011, and 830,000 were sold between 2010 and 2022. Launch engines were two 2.0-litre common-rail TDIs from the Transporter T5 (122 PS single-turbo, 163 PS bi-turbo) and a 2.0 TSI petrol from 2011; the 2016 facelift brought the Transporter T6-style interior and a 3.0 V6 TDI (a more powerful 580 N·m version from 2019). The Dark Label limited edition of September 2014 had a 180 PS BiTDI, and VW Australia launched the V6 Core with a true low-range transfer case in January 2020. A second facelift for Argentina in summer 2024 borrowed the Mk2's front end.

We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

The GMT400 split the twins for good: 1988 was the year "C/K" became Chevrolet-only badging, while GMC's version of the very same truck became the Sierra.

GMC found 10 extra horsepower in the Sierra All Terrain X's 5.3L V8 with nothing more than a performance exhaust, no other changes needed to go from 355 to 365 hp.

This Sierra kept rolling off the line for a full extra year after its replacement arrived - badged "Classic" in 2007 just to tell the two generations apart on dealer lots.

When this GMT900 Sierra launched for 2007, GM kept selling the outgoing truck alongside it, badged "Classic," so buyers could choose old or new side by side on the same lot.

Toyota showed it as the T150 until Ford sued over the likeness to the F-150, and the production truck was renamed Tundra.

A Louisiana owner put over a million miles on his 2007 Tundra in eight years; Toyota gave him a new truck and took his apart to study it.

Toyota's Texas Tundra plant sits on land bought from the state's oldest working cattle ranch, and the 1794 Edition is named for the year that ranch was founded.

Its launch colours had pun names such as "Anti-Establish Mint" and "Freudian Gilt", sent to Lee Iacocca by a friend.
