FactUAZ built a prototype 469 with 300mm of clearance in 1961, then waited a decade to start production while the VAZ and KamAZ plants got built first.
An off-road military light utility vehicle manufactured by UAZ since 1971, the successor to the GAZ-69, used by Soviet and Warsaw Pact armed forces and widely by Soviet state organisations that needed a robust vehicle. The first UAZ-469 was made in 1961 with 300 mm of clearance, but production only began in 1971 because the Soviet Union was building the VAZ and KamAZ factories at the same time. Its great advantages: it could drive in virtually any terrain and was very easy to repair; the engine runs on petrol as low as 72 octane. Later sold as the UAZ-3151 and Hunter.

We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
