FactGAC planned a US launch for the GS8, styled by an ex-Mercedes-Benz designer, then shelved it in 2019 over trade tensions.
The Trumpchi GS8, designed by former Mercedes-Benz designer Fan Zhang, debuted as Trumpchi's largest model at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show, spawning the smaller GS7 (renamed GS8S after an April 2020 facelift); a wider, longer-wheelbase second generation followed in 2021. Sold in Russia (from December 2019) and by Bazerji Motors in Lebanon; a planned US launch was postponed and then shelved in May 2019 over trade tensions. Its 2.0-litre turbo four (full designation GS8 320T) made 148 kW (201 PS, 198 hp) at 5,200 rpm and 236 lb-ft between 1,750-4,000 rpm, with a 6-speed Aisin automatic sending power to the front or all four wheels. Wheelbase 2,800 mm (110.2 in), length 4,810-4,835 mm (189.4-190.4 in), width 1,910 mm (75.2 in), height 1,770 mm (69.7 in), curb weight 1,840-1,990 kg (4,057-4,387 lb).

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Despite launching from a standing start in late 2025, the i60 topped GAC Aion's own sales chart through January's seasonal slowdown.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Subaru built a 2.5XT for the National Ski Patrol with a diamond-plate floor, a 9,500-pound winch and a toboggan on the roof.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
