FactThe Emkoo's hybrid system isn't purely homegrown — GAC co-developed its 2-speed hybrid transmission with Toyota, badged internally as the G-MC 2.0 system.
The Trumpchi Emkoo, the second model in GAC's Trumpchi "Shadow" (影) series after the Empow sports sedan, is a compact SUV on the new GMPA (GAC Global Modular Platform Architecture), related to and eventually succeeded in China by the Trumpchi GS4 III/Max; exported as the GAC GS4 in Brazil and the Itala 56 in Italy, assembled locally in Malaysia by TCMA. A 1.5-litre 4A15J2 turbo four makes 130 kW (177 PS, 174 hp); a 2.0-litre 4B20J1 turbo four makes 185 kW (252 PS, 248 hp); a 2.0-litre 4B20L1 petrol-hybrid pairs with a PMSM electric motor. Wheelbase 2,750 mm (108.3 in), length 4,680 mm (184.3 in), width 1,901 mm (74.8 in), height 1,670 mm (65.7 in), curb weight 1,500-1,625 kg (3,307-3,583 lb, 1,670 kg/3,682 lb for the hybrid). Unlike its Trumpchi siblings above, this page's infobox never states a drivetrain layout, so drivetrain is left unset here rather than assumed from the sibling GS4 platform.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Despite launching from a standing start in late 2025, the i60 topped GAC Aion's own sales chart through January's seasonal slowdown.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Subaru built a 2.5XT for the National Ski Patrol with a diamond-plate floor, a 9,500-pound winch and a toboggan on the roof.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
