The Vitara S (Vitara Sport in some markets) is the sporty version of the fourth-generation Suzuki Vitara, released in December 2015 with the 1.4-litre K14C Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine — 140 PS (138 hp) and 220 N·m (162 lb·ft), 20 percent more power and 40 percent more torque than the standard 1.6-litre petrol — shared with the 2017 Swift Sport and paired with a 6-speed automatic as standard (top speed listed at 200 km/h, 0–100 km/h in 8.5 s). It was first available only in 4WD "AllGrip" until summer 2016 and again from 2017, with 2WD added from autumn 2016. Cosmetic changes over the other trims were leather/suede sports seats with red stitching, aluminium sports pedals, red LED headlamp surrounds, a distinctive five-slotted grille and black alloy wheels. It shares the LY chassis code with the regular Vitara, which is catalogued separately as Vitara LY.

We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

The fourth-gen Vitara abandoned nearly three decades of truck-based design in one stroke — swapping its body-on-frame layout for a lightweight unibody shared with the SX4 S-Cross.

By its final US model year, this Grand Vitara had nearly vanished from showrooms — just 4,860 found American buyers in 2004, even though sales stayed strong across the border in Canada.

The original Vitara was such a hit in Italy it exploited a loophole letting off-roaders dodge import quotas — until Italy rewrote the rules within a year, requiring a differential lock the Vitara didn't have.

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Despite launching from a standing start in late 2025, the i60 topped GAC Aion's own sales chart through January's seasonal slowdown.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Subaru built a 2.5XT for the National Ski Patrol with a diamond-plate floor, a 9,500-pound winch and a toboggan on the roof.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
