FactSsangYong picked the Tivoli name as a hidden joke: spelled backwards, the Italian town's name reads "I lov[e] it."
The KGM Tivoli, previously the SsangYong Tivoli, is a subcompact SUV (B-segment) by KG Mobility (previously SsangYong Motor) and was SsangYong's first new model under Mahindra & Mahindra ownership, named after the Italian town of Tivoli, Lazio, and chosen because it can be read as "I lov[e] it" in reverse. It was in testing and development for three years before its announcement in November 2014, revealed as the concept X100, and launched in South Korea in January 2015, built at Pyeongtaek (also assembled at Saveh, Iran and, by Mahindra, at Chakan, India) and related to the Mahindra XUV300, XUV400 and XUV 3XO. It was offered with a choice of petrol or diesel 1.6-litre engines (e-XGi160 petrol; e-XDi160 I4-T diesel), two- or four-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual or an Aisin automatic gearbox which SsangYong claims is as quick and efficient as a dual-clutch setup; it was also sold as the Tivolan in China and as the LUVi in Denmark. Pre-facelift length 4,195 mm (165.2 in), width 1,795 mm (70.7 in), height 1,590 mm (62.6 in), wheelbase 2,600 mm (102.4 in). KNCAP gave it Grade 1 (5 stars; 91.9 points) on a 2015 registration and Euro NCAP rated the 2016 standard-equipment car 82% adult, 62% child, 65% pedestrian and 43% safety assist. Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

The 2019 facelift added a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch CarPlay/Android Auto touchscreen — tech you don't expect in a budget SUV this size.

Stretching the Tivoli by less than 10 inches behind the rear wheels nearly doubled its cargo space — from 423 up to 720 liters.

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Despite launching from a standing start in late 2025, the i60 topped GAC Aion's own sales chart through January's seasonal slowdown.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Subaru built a 2.5XT for the National Ski Patrol with a diamond-plate floor, a 9,500-pound winch and a toboggan on the roof.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.
