FactThe Yeti concept's split tailgate was built to carry two bicycles, an idea Škoda showed off in 2005 and then quietly dropped for production.
Škoda's first SUV, unveiled as a concept at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show (with a single wiper sweeping the whole windscreen and a split hatch to carry two bicycles, neither of which reached production) and introduced in production form at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, designed by Thomas Ingenlath on the Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35) platform shared with the Octavia and the Golf V 4Motion. The compact crossover has the VarioFlex rear seats from its predecessor the Roomster: three separate seats whose outer two slide 80 mm inwards when the middle seat is removed, with luggage space from 405 to 1,760 litres. All the engines are four-cylinder turbos: TSI petrols and common-rail TDI diesels with particulate filters, mostly with six-speed manuals, front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. It was Top Gear magazine's Family Car of the Year in 2009, was built at Kvasiny and assembled in Russia, India, China, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, and was succeeded by the Karoq and Kamiq.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Despite launching from a standing start in late 2025, the i60 topped GAC Aion's own sales chart through January's seasonal slowdown.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.
