FactThe Shahin rides on a platform Iran claims as its first-ever, fully home-designed vehicle architecture — even though it reportedly started life as a reworked Toyota Yaris platform.
The Saipa Shahin (codename SP100), unveiled in 2018 as the Roham before its 2020 rename and December 2020 mass-production start, is a compact C-segment sedan built on the SAIPA SP1 platform — Iran's first domestically developed platform, an upgraded Toyota B-platform derivative — and related to the Saipa Aria crossover. Its turbocharged 1.5-litre M15TC four makes 110 hp (112 PS) and 131 lb-ft; a naturally-aspirated ME16 four was also offered. Front engine, front-wheel drive, 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic; wheelbase 2,650 mm (104.3 in), length 4,460 mm (175.6 in), width 1,768 mm (69.6 in), height 1,501 mm (59.1 in), curb weight 1,260-1,330 kg (2,778-2,932 lb).

This DeVille/Fleetwood was the first production car anywhere to mount its V8 sideways, Cadillac's front-drive gamble on the new C-body.
