The Renault Kiger is a subcompact crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Renault, revealed in January 2021 and on sale since March 2021. Designed and manufactured in India, it is positioned under the Duster to occupy the sub-4-metre crossover SUV segment in India. Developed under the project code HBC, its design was previewed in a concept showcar on 18 November 2020 and the production version was released on 28 January 2021 in New Delhi, the work of the French and Indian design divisions. It is built on the Renault–Nissan CMF-A+ platform shared with the closely related Triber MPV and the Nissan Magnite, with a sculpted hood, a semi-floating roof with an integrated gallery that extends to the windscreen, and two central exhaust outlets. In India it is available with the 1.0-litre B4D three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine as standard, capable of 72 PS and 96 N·m with a 5-speed manual or Easy-R automated manual, and upper trims get the 1.0-litre HRA0 turbocharged petrol engine producing 100 PS and 152–160 N·m with a five-speed manual or an optional CVT. At launch Renault claimed best-in-class cargo capacity of 405 litres, expandable to 879 litres with the rear seats folded. The Kiger was introduced in Indonesia in August 2021 in a single RXZ trim with the turbo engine, and in Brunei in July 2022, marking the return of Renault to that market after nine years.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.
