The Renault Austral is a compact crossover SUV (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Renault, unveiled in March 2022 as the successor to the Kadjar and built on the third-generation CMF-CD platform. It was first shown publicly at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, with production beginning in July 2022 at the Palencia plant in Spain. Its derivatives include the sixth-generation Renault Espace, a long-wheelbase, three-row family version, and the Renault Rafale coupé SUV, with the three vehicles sharing 75 percent of their parts; the Rafale has a 300 hp plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive. There is no diesel: the range comprises a 1.3-litre H5Ht turbo mild hybrid (12V) with 140 or 160 hp and a 6-speed manual or X-Tronic CVT, a 1.2-litre HR12 three-cylinder turbo mild hybrid (48V) with 130 hp and a 6-speed manual, and a 1.2-litre E-Tech full hybrid with 200 hp using a multimode clutchless automatic hybrid transmission, a 400V battery of 1.7 kWh and a 67 hp (68 PS) electric motor, with the E-Tech Hybrid at 105–106 g/km CO2. Euro NCAP tested the Austral 1.3 TCe in 2022 with 88% adult occupant protection, and it received the Autobest 2023 trophy from a jury of 31 European countries.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
