FactProton's X50 switched from a three-cylinder turbo to a four-cylinder one at its facelift, a rare downsize reversed.
The Proton X50 is a subcompact crossover SUV built at Proton City, Tanjung Malim, since September 2020, a right-hand-drive rebadge of the Geely Binyue (Coolray) on the BMA platform. Revealed on 15 September 2020 and launched on 27 October 2020, it was Proton's second SUV after the X70. It first used the Geely-Volvo JLH-3G15TD 1.5-litre turbo three in port-injected and direct-injected forms; the facelift launched on 24 July 2025 switched to the 1.5-litre BHE15TD i-GT turbo four. All use a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and front-wheel drive.
