FactIts launch retired the Meriva, as buyers traded compact people-movers for small crossovers almost overnight.
The Opel Crossland is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) marketed by Opel from 2017 to 2024, unveiled to the media in January 2017 and shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017 as the Opel and Vauxhall Crossland X (it dropped the X suffix with the facelift). It went on sale in the summer of 2017 and was marketed as the Vauxhall Crossland in the United Kingdom. The Opel Meriva was discontinued simultaneously as demand for B-segment crossovers grew at the expense of compact MPVs, and the Crossland was succeeded by the Frontera in 2024. It was built at the Opel factory in Zaragoza, Spain, on the PSA PF1 platform shared with the Citroën C3 (second generation), C3 Picasso, C3 Aircross and C4 Cactus, DS 3 and the Peugeot 206, 207, 208 and 2008 (first generation). It came with petrol, diesel and LPG engines: 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrols of 82, 110 and 130 PS (the two higher-powered versions turbocharged, with balance shafts), a 1.6-litre diesel of 99 or 120 PS (quickly replaced by a marginally smaller 1.5-litre version in May 2018, in 102, 110 and 120 PS forms) and a 1.2 LPG model of 75 PS; the 120 PS diesel and 130 PS petrol have six-speed manuals, the others five-speeds, and a six-speed automatic is available with the 130 PS engine. In March 2018 Opel announced over 100,000 orders had been taken.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Despite launching from a standing start in late 2025, the i60 topped GAC Aion's own sales chart through January's seasonal slowdown.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Subaru built a 2.5XT for the National Ski Patrol with a diamond-plate floor, a 9,500-pound winch and a toboggan on the roof.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
