The Opel Antara is a compact crossover SUV (C-segment) marketed by Opel from 2006 to 2015 in Europe, based on the GM Theta platform and closely related to the Chevrolet Captiva (C100/C140); it was built by GM Korea in Bupyeong, at Ramos Arizpe in Mexico and in St. Petersburg, Russia, and sold as the Vauxhall Antara in the UK, the Daewoo Winstorm MaXX in South Korea (2008–2011), the Chevrolet Captiva Sport in the Americas, the Holden Captiva MaXX (2006–2009) and Captiva 5 (2009–2015) in Australasia, the Saturn Vue (US and Canada, 2008–2010) and the GMC Terrain in the Middle East (2008–2010). It succeeded the Opel Frontera (and the Holden Frontera Sport in Australia) and was replaced in Europe by the Opel Grandland. It offered front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with the facelift introducing a new Euro 5 compliant 2.2-litre diesel (replacing the 2.0-litre) and an updated version of the 2.4-litre petrol. The International range comprised the 2.0 VCDi turbodiesel (110 kW, 2006–2010), the 2.2 VCDi (120 or 135 kW, 2010–2015), the 2.4 Family II petrol (103 kW, 2006–2010), the 2.4 Ecotec (123 kW, 2010–2015) and the 3.2 High Feature V6 (167 kW, 2006–2010), with 5- and 6-speed manuals and 5- and 6-speed automatics; the Americas range added a 2.4 Ecotec hybrid using GM's mild BAS system, 3.0 and 3.6 V6 versions and a cancelled plug-in hybrid V6.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Despite launching from a standing start in late 2025, the i60 topped GAC Aion's own sales chart through January's seasonal slowdown.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
