The Nissan Livina is a compact MPV introduced in July 2006 by Dongfeng Nissan at the Guangzhou International Motor Show and on sale from December 2006, sharing its platform with the first-generation Note (Nissan B platform); it was the first Nissan to debut in China before being released elsewhere, and was built in Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, South Africa, China and Taiwan (production 2006–2018 China, 2007–2019 Indonesia, 2007–2020 Taiwan, 2009–2015 Brazil, 2007–2018 Malaysia). It came in two lengths, the two-row Livina (or Livina XR, Livina Urban/Sport in Taiwan) and the three-row Livina Geniss (China) / Grand Livina, plus the crossover-styled Livina C-Gear / X-Gear from April 2008 with unpainted body claddings and roof rails. Power comes from the 1.5-litre HR15DE (80 kW, 107 hp), 1.6-litre HR16DE (77–82 kW, 103–110 hp) and 1.8-litre MR18DE (93 kW, 125 hp) four-cylinders shared with the Tiida/Latio/Versa (C11), with a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual (1.8) or 4-speed automatic, the CVT arriving with the L11 only. The L11 facelift was first shown in China at the Shanghai show in April 2013 and launched in Indonesia on 29 May 2013 with revised front end and taillights (1.5 HR15DE with dual injectors and dual CVTC; 1.8 only for the X-Gear). Wheelbase 2,600 mm (102.4 in), curb weight 1,117 kg (2,463 lb). The 2015 ASEAN NCAP test of the Grand Livina gave adult occupant 12.50 points and child 41%.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

This Livina is not a Nissan design at all, it is a Mitsubishi Xpander built on the same Cikarang line and rebadged.

Rivals
Same body, same money, other badges — tap any card to flip.

Cooling the C6 RS6’s twin-turbo V10 took seven separate radiators and four electric fans under the bonnet.

The original RS6 debuted Audi's clever hydraulic Dynamic Ride Control suspension — and enough owners got tired of its leaking dampers that they ripped the whole system out for plain coilovers.

The C7-generation RS6 Avant never officially reached America at all — buyers there got the RS7 Sportback instead, running the exact same engine and platform in a different body.

For a few years, this Outback's six-cylinder trim came with genuine McIntosh audio — the same esteemed hi-fi name found in home theaters, one of the only cars ever to get it from the factory.

Subaru didn't have the budget for an all-new SUV, so it dressed up a Legacy wagon instead. A Subaru of America executive later put it bluntly: "[the Outback] saved our company."

The new Outback's full-width tail light bar has a 2 ft ruler built in, for measuring whatever you are about to load.

This Outback shared Top Gear's Car of the Year crown — an unusual honor for a jacked-up wagon to split with the Ford Mondeo in 2007.

A wagon beat the SUVs at their own game: this Outback generation won Motor Trend's Sport/Utility of the Year award for 2010.
