A small family car built by MZMA / AZLK in Moscow from 1967 to 1975 and by IZh in Izhevsk from 1967 to 1982, a more powerful and prestigious version of the M-408. Its UZAM-412 engine was a 1,478 cc overhead-cam four, slanted 20 degrees, with a block, head and inlet manifold cast in aluminium alloy, a hemispherical combustion chamber and replaceable steel liners, designed by Igor I. Okunev. Sold in the UK in 1974 as the Moskvich 1500. Until early 1969 it had a column gear lever and a front bench seat; after that a new gearbox and floor shifter arrived.
