FactFrom 2008, Mitsubishi quietly built this kei SUV a twin for Nissan too — badged the Kix, under the same OEM deal that spawned the eK/Otti.
In October 1998 the kei car regulations were updated again and the Pajero Mini was widened and lengthened accordingly (H53A two-wheel-drive, H58A four-wheel-drive, with H57A used for the Pajero Junior), with 659 cc 4A30 16V, 4A30T MVV 16V turbo and 4A30T 20V DOHC turbo engines and a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The "Duke" carried over with a deeper grille with vertical bars, the Lynx grade with four round headlights was added in November 2000, the first facelift (September 2003) redesigned the front fascia, dropped the Duke and introduced the VR-S, and the third refresh (September 2008) redesigned the front to resemble the larger Pajero and updated the interior and taillights. It was sold through a specific retail chain, Galant Shop, and from 2008 Mitsubishi also built an OEM version as the Nissan Kix (as with the eK / Nissan Otti). Production ended in June 2012 (annual production peaked at 104,990 in 1995).

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Mitsubishi sold the tiny Pajero Mini in both 2WD and 4WD, but buyers overwhelmingly wanted the real thing: 4WD outsold 2WD by at least 6 to 1.

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Subaru built a 2.5XT for the National Ski Patrol with a diamond-plate floor, a 9,500-pound winch and a toboggan on the roof.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
