FactAfter an 11-year gap, Mitsubishi revived this nameplate in 2012 by rebadging the second-generation Nissan Fuga — built with its old rival, not against it.
In early 2012 Mitsubishi cooperated with Nissan to sell its own version of the second-generation Nissan Fuga (also the Infiniti M/Q70) under the Proudia name after an 11-year hiatus, with sales starting on 26 July 2012 on the Nissan FM platform. Compared with its predecessor it was slightly taller but shorter and narrower, and thus lighter, with all models compliant with the 2005 emission standards (a 75% reduction); trim packages aligned with the Fuga (Proudia 250 = Fuga 250GT, 250 VIP, 370 VIP and 370 4WD = Fuga 370 GT Four, the first Proudia offered with all-wheel drive), with a Mitsubishi-specific grille and appearance items and optional heated and ventilated front seats, power reclining rear seats, a power ottoman and HDD navigation with the CarWings telematics service. The Fuga's hybrid was not offered on the Proudia, only on the longer Dignity. The Proudia and Dignity nameplates were discontinued for the second time in November 2016.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Mitsubishi's flagship Proudia lasted barely fifteen months on sale before the company's financial troubles killed it — only 1,227 were ever built.

It briefly served as senior sibling to Marquette, a GM companion brand cancelled after just one year.

Nissan hired former BMW engineers to help develop the 510's suspension, which is why period reviewers frequently compared its handling to the BMW 1600/2002.

A Trabant 601 won its class at the 1970 Monte Carlo Rally, with a second 601 right behind it in second.

The 600 was a stopgap: the P50's body over the 601's mechanicals, and for a while its estate was built alongside the new 601 saloon.

The G80 Sport brought a 370 PS twin-turbo 3.3 V6, a mesh grille and copper-tinted chrome with copper stitching to match.

The Vigor was sold only with a five-cylinder engine, an unusual configuration Honda used to fit a longer engine transversely under a short hood.

The GS/E coupe earned the nickname "German Charger" for its long hood, short deck stance borrowed from Detroit muscle cars.

This DeVille/Fleetwood was the first production car anywhere to mount its V8 sideways, Cadillac's front-drive gamble on the new C-body.
